One Bar Development is a woman-owned development firm focused on community-based new development, the preservation of affordable housing, and placemaking mixed use projects. The firm’s principles are rooted in investing in people and place to provide opportunity and quality of life improvements to its residents, stakeholders, and communities.
Jessica Sherman
Jessica Sherman founded One Bar Development in 2021. The firm is a natural extension of the passion for high quality, equitable housing that Jessica developed working in both real estate and the public sector.
Prior to starting One Bar, Jessica Sherman spent five years at Douglaston Development, where she managed the development of 2,600 units of affordable housing, totaling over $806M in development. Ms. Sherman joined Douglaston Development in 2016 as a Project Manager on the Affordable Housing team, bringing a strong project management skillset developed through roles in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. She previously worked as a Leadership Fellow at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, focusing on regional infrastructure management and development. Throughout her career, Ms. Sherman has focused on the importance of public private partnerships to enhance communities and infrastructure. Ms. Sherman completed her M.B.A. at Columbia Business School. She also holds an M.Sc. in Social Policy from the University of Oxford and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Advisory Council for the Fund for Public Housing and the Rebuilding Together NYC SheBuilds’ New York City Committee.
